The main working tool of health visitors, in their capacity as helping professionals, is their own personality, since what and how to communicate are crucially important when giving advice, as is establishing an atmosphere based on trust and cooperation with the parents. For lack of support, this professional personality may be vulnerable to the risk of burnout. The supervision element of the project provides health visitors with ways of giving advice that help to process professional questions, difficulties and dilemmas, reduce stress and prevent burnout. Such methods include supervision (individual or group), case discussions and coaching. Health visitors with experience in cervical screening may also take part in training to enhance their skills as part of the project.
